Designed with a focus on efficiency and everyday usability, the single turbo 2.3L engine provides a more straightforward power delivery compared to the twin turbo setup, while still offering solid performance for towing and load-carrying. The YS23DDT is a 2.3L four-cylinder turbo diesel featuring a cast iron block and aluminium cylinder head with a single turbocharger setup. Engine management is handled by a Continental SID309 ECU using torque-based control strategies with MAF and MAP airflow inputs. From the factory, calibration is conservative to meet emissions targets and protect drivetrain components. With correct calibration, torque delivery can be improved through the low to mid-range, providing more immediate throttle response and stronger performance under load — making the vehicle noticeably more capable and responsive in everyday and towing situations.
