The ZD30CRD uses a high-pressure common rail injection system. Unlike the earlier direct injection (DI) engines, each injector on the CRD is individually calibrated and assigned a unique injector code.

These codes are critical to correct engine operation.

What Are Injector Codes?

Injector codes (sometimes called compensation codes or calibration codes) are alphanumeric values assigned to each individual injector during manufacturing.

No two injectors flow exactly the same. Even small variations in internal machining and tolerances affect:

  • Fuel delivery rate

The injector code tells the ECU the exact flow characteristics of that specific injector so it can compensate accordingly.
